About The Artwork
Grasping the vivid yet fragile color set of the returning sun in polar winter 2017, this picture deals with the traditional narwhale hunt in northern Greenland. I was deeply impressed by the enormous narwhale horns in the hunters houses and knowing the deep family bounds these animals share, i felt the pain a community of narwhales surely experiences if one of their members dies. I painted in a tiny house with barely any light and snow storms rushing through the valley.
