About The Artwork
Funny story: I painted this on location, "plein air". The wind was blowing that day. My watercolor box got completely hammered by sand in the wind. I find sand in that box to this day. There might even be still some grains of sand stuck to this piece. I love painting Oleron Island, on the west coast of France, during the summer. The light make colors so vivid. It gives sky this violet hue. Pine tress that esmerald green. All of which I wanted to capture in this series.
