About The Artwork

“Ouroboros” derives from a Greek word meaning “tail-devourer.” The concept of the ouroboros is very ancient, used across many cultures as a symbol of cosmic harmony, eternity, and the cycle of birth and death. The earliest known ouroboros symbol comes in a 14th-century BCE Egyptian religious text found in the tomb of King Tutankhamen. The symbol appears in a passage about the origin of the sun god Ra through a union with Osiris, meant to illustrate creation through destruction. Norse legend tells of the great serpent, Jörmungandr, who encircles the earth and bites its own tail, which is depicted as a serpent in the shape of an infinity symbol. In this painting I wanted to use the human form as a way to express this idea, you will see an infinity symbol if you follow the figures. This symbol has always close to me, I always see it.

Born in 1983 in NY. Started out drawing and dedicating time to art for fun and teenage escape. It has always been the easiest way for me to express myself. The drawing started to get more and more photo realist and I started to get intrigued with the idea of painting and haven't stopped since. I painted with acrylics for about 12 years and soon felt I needed a new medium...so I started painting with oils. At times you feel like a scientist because it continuously seems like it is limitless. Painting has been the journey of my life and always keeps me at a state of constant learning. I wouldn't trade it for anything. In late of 2016 I joined the Board of Directors of the Magnolia Art Xchange (MAX) which will be the first art incubator in Ocala, FL. It's exciting to be a part of something like this and since I grew up here and have always been in the arts, it's even sweeter because I know how much MAX will benefit artists from all walks of life and encourage more business in our community.
