Party Time Painting

I find that when I have a clear vision of what I want to paint, it usually ends up ok. Before I painted this, I was watching a show on contemporary abstract art and explaining what you had to do to produce good contemporary art. To be honest, most of the info was pretty ordinary, and it just made me more resolute of what I wanted to do. In essence, I want to produce art which gets away from 'The Grid'. This is an idea that the vast majority of western art is constrained by a grid which dominates compositions and aligns to a formal set of rules of picture construction. Here I'm deliberately trying to put objects and images and textures which you shouldn't put together. It's more of an avant garde approach to making art.
