Kelvin Lei was born in Guangzhou, China. His passion for art and drawing began when he was a little boy. This passion led him to Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts where he trained with one of China's most prestigious and finest portrait artist, Yang Zhi Guang. He also received training from Yang's wife , Ou Yang who is a distinguished oil painter. It is from these great teachers that Kelvin learned the foundation and techniques of portraiture, figure drawing, and oil painting. In 1979, Kelvin moved to Hong Kong where he started his artistic career. He drew mainly portraitures and figure paintings. Later, several galleries from Norway, Holland and England represented Kelvin and his work. Kelvin's paintings can be seen in private collection in the United States, England, Holland, Norway and Asia. His work is currently exhibited in Gallery 1000, Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
