Acrylic and Spray Paint on Wooden Panel "Sacar de la nada" : to create something from nothing, often associated with magic and sorcery. The human figure sits intertwined with a bird, inspired by a full-figure glyph from the Mayan ruins of Copán, where the 'long-count' refers to a number of time cycles that have transpired since the beginning of the universe. The right hand grasps a fish fresh out of water - signifying the transition from one world to another. On the left and right bottom corner are head variant glyphs, each stand for a unit of time. One 'kin' (head of man) refers to the cycle of one day. One 'tun' (head of bird) refers to the cycle of one year. Rising out of the headdress is the Moon Goddess transcending into the heavens.
