About The Artwork
When I take the time to focus on the feeling that painting gives me, it is fully expressed in this image above. In this piece, I am five years old swinging on a branch at my grandparents farm after Sunday church. It is late spring, and kindergarten is about to be out for the summer. My swinging with pleasure embodies all the devil-may-care attitude that comes with the luxuriously long days stretched out before me. THE ORIGINAL PAINTING IS SOLD. Those hot summer months meant freedom from routine, but more importantly, it meant freedom to make adventures for ourselves; freedom to get into trouble (mostly without getting caught); freedom to make magic happen. In this image, I explore that childhood summer-vacation feeling: anything is possible.
