Spit - Acrylic on canvas Inspiration: Water & fire. Expression of a mood, with beautiful colors. "Spit" was included in a two man show on the Venice Art Crawl, October 2012. Series: Disparities In Nature - The contrast of red against other natural elements has always intrigued me, and ultimately inspired the series, “Disparities in Nature”. The original works in this series were actually done seven miles out in the steep canyons of the Santa Rosa Mountains with the indigenous materials at hand. It was years before I decided to replicate this intense imagery on canvas.

Traditionally trained and a surrealist at heart, I paint from concepts, dreams and the constant stream of imagery that flows through my consciousness. I avoid figurative subjects unless they play a requisite role in a concept. I find abstract work a much more direct expression of intimate emotions and sensations, as well as a better conduit to convey them to others. Whether it be triumph or desperation, tranquility or risk, visual context and provoked feelings are left to the interpretation of the viewer.
