Egidius (Ed) was born in Tilburg, The Netherlands and lives in Manchester (UK) with his wife, son and dogs. Egidius is a contemporary impressionist painter and prefers to paint landscapes en plein air i.e. outdoors to capture the vibrancy of colour, light and shadows in a quick spontaneous abstracted fashion onto canvas. Field studies are then often refined in the studio if required or used as reference material for larger works. Egidius believes in using quality, archival art materials and methods and the application of specific mulled pigments and paints to best convey the sparkle and mood of a scenery.
