About The Artwork

I recently lost my sister to cancer. The emotions I felt were like nothing I had ever experienced. Both of my parents have passed and the grief I felt was far different than when they died. As an artist, I realized the only way I could process this new grief was to visualize it. The 5 Stages of Grief series was born. I painted one painting a day for five days. I discovered I was completely exhausted after I completed the last one. If you are a therapist or a grief counselor and you’re looking for artwork to convey grief, you might want to consider this collection. If you have more than one patient, I would recommend purchasing prints instead of the original. If you need more information on this timely subject, please see grief.com for in-depth descriptions. This collection is neither matted nor framed. They will require a frame that is 12" x 16" with an 11" x 14" image size. I provide a Certificate of Authenticity as required by Saatchi.

Nancy Riedell, an internationally recognized, award winning artist originally from California and now living in Nevada, graduated from San Francisco State University where she studied Fine Arts. Classes included figure drawing, color values, acrylics, oils, and art history. Nancy’s love of art goes back to childhood as her mother encouraged her to develop her art skills by giving her art materials and art books so that she could develop her technique. Nancy’s current medium is watercolor. The bold use of colors and interesting landscapes has played a strong role in Nancy’s unique paintings. She feels that although she has been working with art since childhood, it is only within the last few years that she has felt the calling to go back into her art. Her work reflects her passion well by using strong, saturated color and theme. Nancy likes to take advantage of every opportunity and is known to photograph subjects for future paintings. She has captured beautiful sunrises in Monterey County, unique beach scenes in Santa Cruz County and unusual rock formations in New Mexico. Nancy’s art has been displayed in galleries from in both the United States and England. Nancy has been in four publications and has received seven awards to date. Nancy is a current member of the California Watercolor Assn, the National Watercolor Assn, and the Sierra Watercolor Society.
