The work is an inset in a larger architecture of pillars into which a whirl is intruding from above. It conveys a clash of upward streaming grey energies interfered with in the upper middle by a dark whirl of elements that overwrites a white, only partly disclosed, layer below it. As the viewer’s glance rises, especially on the right, faintly colored elements enter at the top of the work. Utmost tension is felt in the upper middle where movement can barely break through. The tension translates into a standstill instigating a counter-movement downward, especially on the work’s right. There is an arrest of motion whose repercussions are felt throughout the pictorial space. The work is printed on Hot Press Fine Art Smooth Bright White paper (an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish, yielding an extremely high color gamut and black density). It is signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a CoA, and shipped without hanging hardware, in a very sturdy tube protected against folding and puncture.

I am an experimental artist working in digital painting, graphics, abstract photography, animation, and textile design. My work is abstract in the sense that I invent shapes, colors, and textures without reference to representational concerns. Working entirely digitally, I consider the boundaries between domains of visual art as entirely permeable. Since I work with a large variety of tools aided by a mastery of controlled random, the outcome of my composition and design processes are unpredictable; their results often straddle the line between established visual-art categories. The majority of my visual work is found on SaatchiArt where my musical compositions and German and English poetry are found at www.ottolaske.com. Outside of my artistic work, I am the founder and director of the Interdevelopmental Institute (IDM), a graduate-level teaching institute for those interested in adult-developmental thinking and research.
