The Champion is Freddie Mercury. On the 25th anniversary of his death I decided to start a serie of paintings about music's icons. "We Are The Champions" is a hymn. Theatrical and brilliant, there had never been another frontman like Freddie Mercury. The band "Queen" was an unique band thanks to him, Queen begins and ends with Freddie Mercury. His triumphs and failings were the band's identity. He was a champion in a hard generation, a subversive avowal of gay forbearance, even when the AIDS won the battle.

As a child I used brush stroke with water against a cement wall to create my art pieces; the heat from the sun gave them a temporary life span. Today, oil painting is the primary medium of my works. I like this technique because of the light, energy, and brightness of its colours, even when I try to soften the range in some paintings. I have a particular interest in humans’ ordinary social activities as it is a common theme in most of my paintings. The title of each painting reflects its meaning or story behind them. I am inspired by the photographs from my travels. They serve as a model that represents reprehensible or contradictory situations. I paint portraits of ordinary people who represent attitudes or feelings that I admire and have an effect on my emotions. My paintings are not a hobby or just a job. They are an escape route to find calm and show my emotions and worries through scenes that represent and emphasise my most inner thoughts and experiences that I am very passionate about. Madrid, 1977. I trained at Autonomous University of Madrid gaining BA (Hons) in Art. Following my formal education and more courses I studied with the painter Nacho Ramírez, private lessons in his studio during 4 months. I also studied at the Carmen López-Nieto Studio during 6 months. My first oil painting (2011) was my last work there before moving to London. I’m mostly self-taught, when my mood says: “Come on! Take the brushes and paint!” and I’ve not stopped to paint since april 2015. http://www.lidimentos.com
