"The Band Played Waltzing Matilda"

This painting was painted on ANZAC day 2020 and is named after the Eric Bogle song of the same name.

The lyrics to this song are just so powerful and moving...

"When I was a young man I carried me pack
And I lived the free life of the rover
From the Murray's green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my Matilda all over
Then in 1915 my country said: Son,
It's time to stop rambling, there's work to be done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war

And the band played Waltzing Matilda
When the ship pulled away from the quay
And amid all the tears, flag waving and cheers
    We sailed off for Gallipoli..."

The red poppies signify the loss of servicemen and women, and the purple poppies signify the loss of service animals.

Lest We Forget

"Inspired Art from the Heart" I am an emerging, self-taught acrylic artist born and living all of my life in Perth, Western Australia, until my move to Darwin in the Northern Territory in January 2020. I am inspired by nature, spirit, life, music and lyrics and just like my music tastes, my artistic style, techniques and themes are very eclectic. My ‘inspired art from the heart’ covers a variety of themes which encapsulates my raw uniqueness and spiritual energy as I create vibrant paintings of the beauty found in the details of my life. I have a love of painting and creating and want to share this with others to help inspire, heal, motivate or whatever emotion her paintings evoke. Every ANZAC Day (since 2016), I paint an original artwork to honour the fallen service men, women and animals and their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. LEST WE FORGET. My mantra is as follows: “Art is like people, no two are the same. Each person has their own destiny, and art will always find its destiny too.”
