Although there are many painting pieces based on clouds, it was mostly the "Nimbus" cloud work by Berndnaut Smilde that crossed my mind.

To form the clouds, I used a mixture of prepared paints of different densities and carefully puddled them in groups over a prepared canvas.

After several days of drying, I used colors to create a spectrum of rain that is based on a reflecting layer of water over crude oil – a palette that exludes red and green.

Sheen varies over the surface of the painting, and reflects light along different directions depending on the time of day, or the orientation of the light source.

I would like the painting to evoke that something beautiful, yet terrible and mysterious, is happening – something destructive and devoid of life – where there once was life, of all kinds, but there is no longer.
