About The Artwork
In May the gardens are a stream of purple flowering iris through many Japanese gardens. The golden sun illuminates them and brings the hope of Spring. The Crane symbol of longevity raises its head towards the sun as it gently stands among these flowers. Green mosses seem to glow and form a soft carpet around the trees. In the distances a mountain peak reaches up in the clear sky.

Hi! I'm a British artist based in Cambridge I take my inspiration from my travels. I work in watercolors, acrylic, ceramic sculpture and love drawing. Often I abstract and reduce a landscape expressing the energy and atmosphere through gestural brush marks. I enjoy East Asian travel and art works, often I use gold leaf, Japanese paints and papers, working with Japanese brushes. When I'm not working in my studio I teach art at the Fitzwilliam museum. My family are based in the beautiful South West of England by the coast and in South West France - again by the sea! I love being by the coast whenever I can.
