About The Artwork

This is a commissioned painting created to a playlist of music by the buyer. The artist lived with this painting for two months straight; eating in front of it, sleeping next to it, and working on it almost every day with the music playing to influence his marks. Automatic mark making inspired by artist's such as de Kooning, Pollock, and Miro are filtered through the experience of the artist The Devil You Know is one of the artist's deepest and most complex paintings with layers upon layer of vivid forms appearing, disappearing, and mixing together so they seem to appear out of nowhere when the viewer doesn't expect it.

Born in Miami in 1987, Aparicio lived an international life traveling from one country to the next. After earning his bachelors degree in Fine Art, Aparicio packed up and headed to Paris, driven by the stories of his favorite painters. He currently works out of his Studio in Montreuil. Aparicio refuses to be categorised into one particular style. Each medium whether acrylic, oil or ink brings a different inspiration. Everything he experiences is referenced in his art, adding to the richness and complexity of his oeuvre. He follows his inspiration first and foremost which leads him on an adventure, an exploration of the spectrum between abstraction and figuration. His main inspirations are the philosophies of the New York School of Abstract Expressionists and how they connect with Surrealism. For his figurative paintings, he is most inspired by the Impressionists and post Impressionists.
