The intertwining of dreams, memories, and waking life is the central theme of my artistic exploration. As a lucid dreamer, the boundaries between these states of consciousness often blur, creating a surreal tapestry where dreams can feel more tangible than reality and memories more vivid than waking moments. Navigating this delicate balance, I find myself immersed in a realm where discerning what is real becomes a contemplative challenge. In my artistic practice, I employ techniques that involve manipulating mediums beyond my complete control. For instance, I pour gesso onto unprimed textiles and then infuse them with spray paint, guiding the flow with a knife as it gracefully cascades down. This method, working in harmony and contradiction with natural forces like gravity, mirrors our perpetual struggle to impose order on an ostensibly uncontrollable existence. These unconventional creative styles serve as a visual language through which I articulate my personal journey into the realms of oneirology, affective science, and cognitive psychology. Each stroke, drip, and ribboning motion on the canvas becomes a metaphorical expression of the intricate dance between the conscious and the subconscious, a reflection of the ongoing attempt to make sense of the profound complexity of human existence.

HARUTO IMAMURA Haruto Imamura was born in Tokyo, in 1979, to a Japanese father and American mother of Irish/German descent. He grew up in Japan, Africa and the Washington D.C. area. Imamura Received a B.F.A. in performing arts at Adelphi University. He began to paint as a way to find solace in art away from the collaborative worlds of film and theater. Imamura has had several solo shows including, "L'Ange Noir" at the Fischbach Gallery in NYC and "The Fatted Calf" at the Vera Cruz Gallery in Washington D.C. He has also been selected as the Ovation TV featured member and had his artwork published in Anthology of Friends, Volume 9, by Michael Riffel. Upcoming shows include "The Dawn of Dusk" at the private Norwood Club in NYC. His paintings can be found in private collections across the USA. Imamura currently splits his live/work time between NYC and D.C. "Conceptual Deconstruction" I meticulously study subjects or concepts until their familiarity becomes "second nature." Then, using my hands, fire and, carving tools, I let go of the information as it pours out of me instinctually through the paint. Once the concept is deconstructed to a primal/abstract level, it is accessible to anyone without preconceived structure. Therefore, giving the viewer the power to create their own personal and genuine experience with the art. This intimate interaction allows the piece to live through the reincarnations of each person's imagination.
