While the metaphor of the hanging clock illustrates arms that are larger than the circumference of its circular body, an arm of this clock cleaves to the shadow of man forever. Man who cannot be detached from time, and from the actions of his past, faces a foreboding storm that occasions his harmful activities on earth. The symbol of the clock, with oversized arms, is a clarion call on man to find means of mitigating the emergencies and threats of our time.
