About The Artwork
The Baul are a group of mystic musicians from West Bengal and Bangladesh. They can often be identified by their distinctive clothes and musical instruments. the Bauls are simply nonconformists or a nomadic tribe who rejected the traditional social norms to form a distinct sect that upheld music as their religion. Inspired by my trip to Kolkata, Blend of Colors on this canvas depicts a Baul, who is lost in the music which he is playing on Ektara, thinking about the Almighty. The vibrant background depicts the feeling of absolute joy and nirvana in being lost in his own music.
