Three Sisters Painting

For many years during college and after I worked in restaurants, and spend a lot of my time sketching costumers and situations on my waiter pads. Some of these hundreds of little drawings have become large paintings. I like the idea of given a situation or a person an almost an intense but also minimal attention. Letting the first impression and small quick sketches grow onto large scale canvasses and express an impression I got from the situation. This painting was of a dinner party of three sisters, who mid-dinner had an argument. They were very stylish and sophisticated looking, but the conversation was harsh, loud and slightly spiteful, yet still it had a strong aura of unconditional love and of being in a pack. mixed media on canvas original artwork 205 x 165 cm
