About The Artwork
I was inspired by a snowy day in January. The trees are bare of leaves and the snow clings to the branches. There is a small fir tree in the middle, left over from Christmas decorations. I would want the viewer to feel the cold chill of the winter day and think of the family gatherings that have just ended leaving the area empty and silent. I used watermedia batik to execute this painting. I wanted to stay with a monochromatic color scheme to emphasize the severity of the winter landscape.
