Globally collected artist Deb Breton is an abstract expressionist artist living & working in Northern California, U.S. Hi, I'm Deb, In school, I was that quirky kid who was always drawing during English Literature class, or backstage painting sets for the Drama Department. After graduation, I worked in the world of news at the Saint Petersburg Times. And at the top of my “corporate career”, I was an artist and designer for notable clients Nestle, Warner Brothers, and the Dali Museum. But I just wasn't happy with the hustle. So, I picked up wood carving and turning, which eventually led me full circle back to painting. Nowadays, you'll find me in my studio working with acrylics, oils, ink, charcoal, spray paint, and even repurposed bits found on nature walks. My tools are things like sponges, rope, branches, squeegees, I've even painted a floral using fresh cut flowers as my brushes! I break a lot of the rules that I was taught in art. But probably the hardest thing for me to learn was how to step out of my own way and let creativity flow. My art is a reflection of my scattered mind —inspired by life, nature, the universe and sometimes even the beat of my playlist. It's REALLY hard for me to stay on script—my ADHD ensures that. But I find peace and calm in painting. For me, art is about telling an emotional story using color as my words, and celebrating what makes us unique. It's a reminder to honor our authentic selves in a world that often tries to box us in.
