About The Artwork
Obviously I am a fan of movies, and Kill Bill is in my Top Ten of All Time. Uma Thurman is a wildly talented actress, and as I've stated before, I just paint things that I love. The alliteration of the words 'Uma' and 'Orca' popped into my mind one day and they stuck like a song. Even after finishing the painting, the words still remain as a pair forever in my brain like Mike and Ike, or Peanut Butter and Jelly. I aged Uma a little and set her in the foreground with the orca behind her, who has just scooped up an octopus snack. If you research Uma's name and family background, you will see that her father was a buddhist who was very close to the Dalai Lama. Uma is a spiritual name and the lotus reminds us of that. I think Uma and the orca share more than alliteration, both powerful and exotic.
