This painting is framed with a Wide Gold Frame Measuring 25.5" x 29.5" A bit of History about this unique painting: Still Life: “A painting consisting predominantly of inanimate objects”. The unique art form of Still Life Paintings by the international artist Varoe consists of the old traditional oil painting techniques combined with a more contemporary approach to lighting of the objects and to the chosen colors used. The Varoe signature is a combination of two artists: Famed Californian Still Life Painter James Zar 1941 - 2015& David Vedoe born in Copenhagen, Denmark 1958. Jim and I painted these paintings together, Jim painted the fast sketch in pencil and then color based on a concept of design and composition that I chose, then he shipped the painting panel to meand I finished the painting also in oiland with Liquin washes and finally a varnish layer for protection. Fairly traditional Subject Matter was chosen from a variety of elder European, Far Eastern and American objects. Sometimes the scenery is captured with a small animal, like a tiny humming bird, a butterfly or a dragonfly to introduce a contrast by adding a living moving object. Brighter light, stronger more vivid and bold colors is what creates the underlying layers of oil these paints; as the many layers of thin washes are applied on top, the intense effect is rounded of with a series of harmonious more subtle hues of washes to enhance the ambience of each individual art piece. It was a tremendous joy to work and paint with Jim- he taught me so much. I hope the work presented here reflects this unique character of both artists as co-creators. David Vedoe
