Choi Haeng-sook's major works are largely divided into the 'Vitality' series and the 'Arirang' series. ‘Vitality’ is a black work in a monochrome style. And 'Arirang' is Korean traditional music that is registered as a UNESCO cultural heritage. The musicality of 'Arirang' is centered around colors symbolizing the five directions. The five directions are symbolized by East = Blue, West = White, South = Red, North = Black, and Center = Yellow. Both series are painted with a single brush stroke. “Painting with just one brush at a time” is a method of drawing on the canvas with just one stroke using a wide brush. Even though a painting is completed in an instant, more often than not, the work does not turn out as intended. Therefore, Choi Haeng-suk have no choice but to select only a few works from the ''一筆揮之(one-stroke)' paintings that were repeatedly created dozens of times on new canvases. When the canvas is large, the artist puts his whole body into completing the work. Choi Haeng-sook said, “In order to breathe life and energy into the shape of the drawn line, you have to pour out all the strength and energy of your entire body at once... I try again and work again and again to complete it as intended.” Haeng-Sook Choi has been painting her ‘Vitality’ series of monochrome works for some time. Since 2013, she has been presenting the 'Vitality' series of color works under the theme of 'Arirang'. 'Arirang's vitality' refers to the curves and dance moves of the top hat that can be seen in Pungmulnori, a traditional Korean dance, the rhythmic melody of the hem of a traditional Korean skirt, and the 'vitality' contained in the rhythm of 'Arirang' music. do. The 'Vitality' series is the result of a unique method created by overlapping such images. As a result, the strong will to live extends beyond the canvas.
