Zakhar Shevchuk's "Whispers of Time" encapsulates his exploratory phase during his academy years, delving deep into portraiture through an unmistakably expressionistic lens. The dense interplay of strokes and shades elicits a poignant reflection on fleeting moments and the evanescent nature of time. As with much of Shevchuk's oeuvre, the artwork invites a deeper introspection, leading viewers on a contemplative journey rich with emotion and personal interpretation. Born in Ukraine in 1992 and now a respected educator at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, Shevchuk's formidable academic foundation and global acclaim shine through in this creation. "Whispers of Time" serves as a testament to the artist's adeptness at portraiture, resonating with art connoisseurs and novices alike.

Art, to me, is a profound exploration of the world that surrounds us - a journey of discovery, experience, and self-understanding. It is a medium through which I unravel the essence of things - their colors, forms, and the interplay between them. I believe in the power of simplicity, in the art of removing the excess and uncovering the necessary, much like a sculptor chisels away at stone. In my paintings, I strive to distill forms to their purest essence, reaching a point where nothing else can be removed without sacrificing meaning. The "necessary" elements, as I perceive them, remain, serving as conduits for my impressions and self-reflections on the subject at hand. My aim is not to depict something specific but rather to transfer the emotions and thoughts evoked by the object onto the canvas. I seek artistic forms that can boldly and vividly capture the essence of these feelings, rather than mere visual representation. In this pursuit, my work often exists on the precipice between figurative and abstract art - place where emotions take precedence over strict visual interpretation. Through my art, I invite viewers to embark on their own contemplative journeys, to interpret the subtleties and engage with the interplay of emotions and forms. Each brushstroke carries the weight of my perceptions, inviting you to join me in this exploration of the human experience. zakhar@klossart.com
