Painted with Old Holland oils. Ooh-la-la! Travel to a beautiful park in Paris. With gorgeous surroundings and a serene setting, it's nice to see a local resident woman reading in the park. Relaxing, isn't it!? Parc Monceau is a public park situated in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France, at the junction of Boulevard de Courcelles, Rue de Prony and Rue Georges Berger. The park was established by Phillippe d'Orléans, Duke of Chartres, a cousin of King Louis XVI, fabulously wealthy, and active in court politics and society. In 1778, he decided to create a public park, and employed the writer/painter Louis Carrogis Carmontelle to design the gardens. The park, in later years, changed into a more traditional English-style. The park is unusual in France due to its "English" style: its informal layout, curved walkways and randomly placed statues distinguish it from the more traditional, French-style garden. It includes a collection of scaled-down architectural features, or follies — including an Egyptian pyramid, a Chinese fort, a Dutch windmill, and Corinthian pillars.

Born in 1965, Jeffrey Dale Starr has been compelled to draw since the age of 4. Classically trained, Jeffrey worked in various media over the years, at last settling on oil painting at the turn of the millenium. His work can be found in private and public collections all over the world. Along with painting and poetry, Starr is addicted to travel (Tokyo and Paris being two favorite destinations). He is working hard to gain fluency in Japanese and has a goal of learning 10,000 kanji. He currently resides on Cape Cod in the seaside village of West Barnstable with his beloved wife Starrina and their beloved cats Yuuki and D'Artagnan.
