About The Artwork

I love to drive through this little town on my way to my wife's hometown. We have stopped there in the past for gas or for ice cream in summer. It appears to have just one main street. This building is at one end of it. Just on the other side of it is the Mississippi River. There are times when the River floods and when that happens I'm pretty sure it can come up to these tracks. As for the building itself, well, it made me stop and take it's picture. The day was overcast, but I could still envision how this finished image would look. Thank you Photoshop for making it all pop.

I was a street photographer responding to lines, color, people and places long before I realized what I was doing or how it influenced the direction my life would take. Grew up on the original black & white LIFE magazine, eager for its arrival every Thursday, instantly studying all the photos. That is where my concept of photography formed and where my desire grew to become a photographer. I worked in other industries yet nothing satisfied me as much or meant as much as taking - making - pictures. I have been a self-taught freelance photographer for almost 40 years. I create original photo art - fine art images - sold from my studio, my web site and through a few select online galleries. Commercially, I shoot environmental portraits, photograph events, and develop documentary projects for a variety of nonprofits, corporate clients, and government agencies. I work as a partner with clients, helping them to maximize the strategic power of pictures. My images are used for PR, communications, image building, income development, and marketing.
