Harvey Tillis

I was a street photographer responding to lines, color, people and places long before I realized what I was doing or how it influenced the direction my life would take. Grew up on the original black & white LIFE magazine, eager for its arrival every Thursday, instantly studying all the photos. That is where my concept of photography formed and where my desire grew to become a photographer. I worked in other industries yet nothing satisfied me as much or meant as much as taking - making - pictures.

I have been a self-taught freelance photographer for almost 40 years. I create original photo art - fine art images - sold from my studio, my web site and through a few select online galleries.

Commercially, I shoot environmental portraits, photograph events, and develop documentary projects for a variety of nonprofits, corporate clients, and government agencies. I work as a partner with clients, helping them to maximize the strategic power of pictures. My images are used for PR, communications, image building, income development, and marketing.

2021 - One Man Exhibit at Chicago's Fulton Street Gallery, "Harvey's Photo Art", featuring street photography, architecture, and music.

2019 - Jazz Record Art Collective, One Man Exhibit of Chicago Jazz Musicians.

2018 - International Photography Awards, Honorable Mention in One-Shot:Harmony : Documentary category for "World Premiere".

2018 - CHICAGO: INsideOut, Bridgeport Art Center, Chicago. Group exhibit.

2017 - Vicinity, Perspective Gallery, Evanston, IL

2016 - Tokyo International Foto Awards, Honorable Mention for "Urban Sketches" as an Editorial Photo Essay.

2016 - Jazz Record Art Collective, one man showcase exhibit.

2015 - Fifth Annual Exposure Award image included in the Architecture Collection and presented at Musee du Louvre, Paris.
