A village with strange residents where life is usually predictable and calm, some could even say quite boring. One day a visitor, while trying to get away from the storm, got lost and while in panic, and stressed out, his recognizable spots fell off and got scattered over the village, causing all sorts of problems for the scared villagers. It caused the traffic collapse and scared all the fish that the village depended on. But the stranger didn't mean any harm. He was just frightened and didn't know what to do. He couldn't leave the village without his spots as he was afraid that it might look ridiculous. The village council had to find the solution quickly. Inspired by nature, societal observation, and the world of fantasy, Croatian artist Nikolina Petolas opens the door to secret places where memories, desires, and the subconscious converge, existing somewhere between real life and imagination. Through allegory as a means of expression, she discovers a parallel world woven into dreams and disrupts our perception of reality. In her symbolic visual stories, Nikolina creates a deep narrative with profound compositions in her unique style by blending contemporary digital techniques with photography or through traditional painting. Nikolina's artistic vision has attracted the attention of high-profile clients such as Ferragamo and Marriott, with whom she has worked closely. Her signature Blue Pear series, developed over the past 12 years, has earned global recognition and numerous international art awards. Her work has received numerous accolades, including recognition from prestigious institutions like the IPA Photography Awards, LICC, Beautiful Bizarre, FAPA, and notably, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Her impressive portfolio has been widely acclaimed and exhibited in galleries and museums across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
