About The Artwork

I remember a poem read long ago that ends something like this; "If you can't stop time then make it run." That thought came to me when I saw this scene. It was late afternoon on a cold winter day. The beach was on the north end of Chicago at the boundary with Evanston. In summer it would be covered with locals, young and old, kids digging in the sand and splashing in the water, watched by pretty young moms or their moms. Now it was winter and the beach was deserted. Signs on the Lifeguard seats said, "No Guard on Duty." Mentally I added the word, "Yet." I felt a one-two punch of thoughts that first saddened, then elated me. The sad thought was my realization that the only camera with me was my smartphone which would yield a small digital file. The second thought was my memory of that poem's ending. "So What" if my image was going to be noisy and too pixelated? I'd blow it up, push and pull it, make the pixels scream. Use any software available to achieve something exciting. And I did! Thank you Snapseed as well as many functions in Photoshop for this baby. I framed a 30x40 inch print for my studio and it attracts the admiration of everyone who sees it.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I was a street photographer responding to lines, color, people and places long before I realized what I was doing or how it influenced the direction my life would take. Grew up on the original black & white LIFE magazine, eager for its arrival every Thursday, instantly studying all the photos. That is where my concept of photography formed and where my desire grew to become a photographer. I worked in other industries yet nothing satisfied me as much or meant as much as taking - making - pictures. I have been a self-taught freelance photographer for almost 40 years. I create original photo art - fine art images - sold from my studio, my web site and through a few select online galleries. Commercially, I shoot environmental portraits, photograph events, and develop documentary projects for a variety of nonprofits, corporate clients, and government agencies. I work as a partner with clients, helping them to maximize the strategic power of pictures. My images are used for PR, communications, image building, income development, and marketing.
