Lo, Commotion. Morning Subway, St. Petersburg, Russia. 2011 Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

I travel a lot and love to wander. In the Baltic more than a decade ago, my wife and I found ourselves on a subway platform in St. Petersburg, Russia. Though clean -- spotless, I think would be most-appropriate -- the whole scene felt somehow bleak, chaotic, confused. This was the metro line later bombed by terrorists in 2017, so this shot always remained dear to my heart. Especially, considering the current circumstances facing ordinary Russians -- unable to speak out, repressed daily under threat of imprisonment or worse. I've tried varying sizes on the prints -- and, a variety of papers -- but decided this format on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta makes for a really interesting presentation. I do believe the blur of it all lends to the conveyance. My first official Fine Art offering, with more to come . . .
