About The Artwork

What geometries underlie the built and natural environments? What traces of the past do they include? These are two fundamental questions driving my practice. In Recomposition No. 05, I have delved deeper into its architectural details not just as a modification of urban space but as a spatiotemporal phenomenon. I have examined the intricate layers of cultures, humanity, and landscapes interwoven in architecture. My research has revealed that the design of buildings and their architecture reflects the technology and understanding of society and is an integral part of the urban fabric. My experimentation with geometrical forms in photo collages has led to the discovery of musicality in the forms, yielding autonomy beyond being mere objects of reference. Consequently, my photography has transitioned from capturing recognizable landmarks to becoming a part of compositions that foster the development of abstraction and its own inner needs and intensity. This approach has resulted in unique images that may not necessarily adhere to external reality but are no less impactful.

I am a New Yorker from Queens. When I started drawing in my teenage years, my father taught me to look at the architecture of Bucharest, Romania, with a keen eye for perspective, balance, and proportions. Analytic perception has accompanied me ever since. Arriving in New York City, my photographic interest turned to the city's signature architecture. I systematically explored specific themes, such as the effects of light or the perception of waves. I have exhibited my artwork in group shows at the Huntington Arts Council in New York (2020), LIK Gallery in Vienna (2021), and online at the Visual Artists Association in London (2023). My latest work, "New York City Bauhaus," explores trans-artistic movements in the US. One piece was included in a juried exhibition at The CENTER for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ (early 2024), and another was displayed at the Atlantic Gallery in NYC in March 2024.
