What geometries underlie the built and natural environments? What traces of the past do they include? Recomposition No. 18 is a digital painting that showcases the Santiago Calatrava-designed landmark building at the World Trade Center Hub. It combines abstract photographs with basic geometric shapes, following the BAUHAUS movement. This piece is part of the New York City BAUHAUS: Oculus series. The artwork delves into the layers of cultures, humanity, and landscape by presenting the buildings and their architecture as modifications of the urban space at a specific time. The photographs add texture, light, and historical elements to the piece, making it less abstract. They carry a narrative that reflects the dramatic history of the place. For instance, buildings reflect society's technology, understanding, history, and place in personal and collective memory. This piece is printed on archival pigment paper and is offered in a limited edition of five (5).

I am a New Yorker from Queens. When I started drawing in my teenage years, my father taught me to look at the architecture of Bucharest, Romania, with a keen eye for perspective, balance, and proportions. Analytic perception has accompanied me ever since. Arriving in New York City, my photographic interest turned to the city's signature architecture. I systematically explored specific themes, such as the effects of light or the perception of waves. I have exhibited my artwork in group shows at the Huntington Arts Council in New York (2020), LIK Gallery in Vienna (2021), and online at the Visual Artists Association in London (2023). My latest work, "New York City Bauhaus," explores trans-artistic movements in the US. One piece was included in a juried exhibition at The CENTER for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ (early 2024), and another was displayed at the Atlantic Gallery in NYC in March 2024.
