Remnants of The Past by photographer Nick Psomiadis - The photograph captures the essence of simplicity and timelessness with its monochromatic tones and stark imagery. The foreground of the image features the remains of pylons, standing stoically amidst the vast expanse of white sky and water. The dilapidated structures are the only feature of the photograph, but they convey a sense of history and the passage of time. The image evokes a sense of nostalgia, as the pylons appear to be remnants of a bygone era, standing witness to the changing tides of time. The black and white contrast highlights the stark beauty of the pylons, and their simple yet powerful presence is captivating. Remnants of The Past is printed on Cotton Rag 340gsm and in a maximum edition size of 100, the print offered on Saatchi Art is edition 19/100

Nick Psomiadis was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia to Greek parents who migrated to the country in the mid-sixties. He received his education from a Technical School, renowned for its comprehensive curriculum integrating both academic and practical skills. This solid foundation paved the way for his successful career in jewelry making, which spanned nearly two decades starting in 1986. Additionally, he indulged in his love for photography, which he pursued as a hobby and pastime. In 2011, Nick made a life-changing decision to follow his passion for photography, leaving behind a fulfilling profession. He furthered his education, completing a course of studies that encompassed both theory and practical training, and was conferred with a "Diploma of Photography." However, he quickly realized that turning his passion into a profession would require immense effort and dedication. Establishing a home studio, Nick laid the foundation for his art, which he created and exhibited for a decade. In the winter of 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a studio and gallery space in Melbourne, departing from his modest home studio. Nick currently produces photographic fine art, prints, and displays his works under the name N I K A R T Studio & Gallery, 7/20 Ponting Street Williamstown, Vic 3016. Nick draws inspiration from both the natural landscape and the built environment, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture an ephemeral moment in time.
