Using infrared color film and focus shift, I isolated portions of the subject to create this image. The film was processed beyond what is considered "normal." This is an archival pigment print ready for framing.

I have been a fine art photographer for over 30 years. My work has been exhibited in over 30 group and solo shows, and has been included in the Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education: Christian Iconography and Activism in Contemporary Art of Lillian Mendez and Frani Evedon by Dr. Mary Wyrick. My critical writing, Lois Lane's Lament: The Denigrating Images of Women in Superhero Comic Books, was published in The Journal of Gender Issues in Art and Education. After receiving my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Hofstra University, I continued refining my photographic vision, pushing the boundaries of film by using it in a ways it was never intended, resulting in images that tease perception. After moving to Buffalo in 1979, I became a custom color photographic printer for the then nascent Campos Photography Center. In 1987, I earned my New York State teaching certificate from the Buffalo State College Art Education Certification program. I was immediately hired at Orchard Park High School, where I taught a variety of art classes. While teaching, I earned my Master of Science in Art Education, summa cum laude, also at Buffalo State College. In my 8th year at Orchard Park High School, I became department chair and remained so until my retirement in 2014. Throughout my life, I have always examined various aspects of reality, never satisfied to accept its veracity at face value. My work reflects the philosophy of Lakota Shaman Lame Deer who said, “The physical aspect of existence is only representative of what is real.” In photography, objects must exist on the physical plane in order to be captured on film, but I see a synchronicity that exists among physical and non-physical planes of existence which I attempt, through color, depth of field, and careful composition, to bring to realization for everyone to experience.
