Marcel Duchamp reconfigured the Mona Lisa in ways that Leonardo had likely not considered. Not thinking to recreate the shock that Duchamp evoked upon arriving in America with his mustached woman, I've taken delight in parsing the painting in ways that hold to the integrity of da Vinci’s emblematic painting. By carrying partial images of Mona into my particular process, I crown and pay respect to what remains enchanting. By placing my chosen fragments within this work I seek to refresh her mystery and allure.
