A portrait of someone who's very dear to me: myself. A queen who was fighting with herself, then laughingly realized the futility of the game and accepted herself. With all her perfections and imperfections. And so it is: I'm in love with myself. And after realizing how precious I really am, I see this beautiful preciousness in every one of us. The world becomes a treasure, and every breath a reminder of one big wonder.

This sculpture is made on a styrofoam mold. Layers and layers of fabric, paper mache, latex and resin build her identity. Hair is built from banana peel, carefully dried in curls, then painted and lacquered. Gritty texture, reminiscent of sand, is from ground eggshells - they solidify all layers. A ripped nightgown builds some blush on her face and gives a bit of colour to the battle queen. A tiny crown that looks like a flower on one side of her head is built from cold porcelain and painted gold.

Poetry, music, rebellion, femininity, humour and wonder of my world reveal themselves in images, both soft and hard, always mysterious, always in layers of meaning. My stories emerge like flowers opening up their petals, one at a time, as I try to bring to light all the facets of a certain moment in time, of a beautiful memory. But in the end, or in the beginning, it's all about love. I explore painting as a connection to our human vulnerability, of which love is its ultimate manifestation. https://www.instagram.com/gone_with_chinook/
