About The Artwork

Steel table or plinth sculpture that represents the explosive reaction between the elements of Air and Fire. A Djinn is a spirit that was described in the Quran as'a scorching wind'. The original meaning of the word 'Djinn' meant 'What is hidden' which is particularly relevant with this sculpture, as it is difficult to see, when viewed, which of it's elements are within, and which of the elements are without. This sculpture has been powder-coated vibrant red with a beautiful but tough paint, to further accentuate the spirit of fire and wind. Held within the tornado of heat is the spirit's soul, represented with a stainless steel sphere. All my sculptures are hand made, each 'Djinn' sculpture has been made to be unique. They differ in material, form and finish of the metal.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Working predominantly in metals, I create an eclectic range of sculpture and contemporary furniture. Highly aesthetic in nature, you will find much of my work curvaceous and tactile, but with a coarseness that is lent from working with bare steel or stainless steel. My style ranges from figurative to abstract and is always in context with its environment. My current collection "˜Elements' focuses on Earth, Air, Water and Fire, and describes the reaction of when those elements meet. Developing the collection I concentrated on the proccess of using repetitive form of material - flat steel bar, to generate concepts and capture the movement of elemental reactions. The forms are designed appropriately for indoor display, but are perfectly suited to larger scale and outside installations for private or public spaces. http://www.philipmelling.co.uk http://www.artquid.com/artist/philipmelling/philip-melling.html htt
