“Fallen” = past participle, compound form of the verb "fell".

As in: sunk in reputation, ruined, lost status, destroyed, dead, killed in battle, in instances of from-to, fallen in love, fallen in lust, or in moving from a high place to a lower place.

This sculpture is representative of that which is not part of the natural world. This art thus represents anti-reality in the extreme. It is the artist's attempt to describe a concept and an idea through simplicity of shape, form and color.

The pure nature of the form itself effectively cleaves normal human emotion. And yet some sort of actionable emotion is still present in the artwork. As such, the artist feels the artwork cannot be ignored nor simply left unto itself by the viewer. The form itself is believed a compelling one, demanding that it be viewed from multiple angles.

Being sculpture, the work presents more as a sensory experience which may be most fully enjoyed through tactile sensations. Void or empty space within the work is, to the artist, as important to the overall idea and final concept presented as are the visible, wholly touchable form.

Thus the sculpture “Fallen” is termed as non-objective art; a type of abstract art which is usually, but not always, geometric and which aims to convey a sense of simplicity, form, color and purity. Also known as concrete art, non-objective art is art created through any number of media which is devoid of any physical references to the the natural world.

Non-objective art creates novel abstract art from elements that in and of themselves may mean nothing. Very much open to interpretation, there remains, nevertheless, a clearness of and a directness of mind.

This truly unique, wholly original work is made of steel bars and steel rods, wood, wire mesh, and heavy Apoxie sculpt. The final work has been painted in multiple coats of parchment acrylic paint and then finished with a matte acrylic coating. It measures approximately 6 3/4 by 6 by 4 inches. It should be noted that no prints or copies in any format will be offered for sale.

This unusual abstract artwork is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom of the piece as illustrated in one of the accompanying photos. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the sold work.

"Fallen" is priced at $1300, but you may also of course feel free to make your best offer to the artist.

My artwork, I believe, is just part of an endless learning process that moves me one more step toward successfully rendering my own unique and personal vision of the world. I have been on this planet for quite awhile; some seventy-odd years, in fact. I was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area and I live in Mesquite, Texas, a large suburb of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro-plex. I hold two degrees from a New York University; one of them a Masters degree. I previously also completed graduate work in Ethics and Conflict Resolution at Southern Methodist University. By profession, for over forty years I was at one time or another, an accountant, a CFO, and a financial analyst prior to my early retirement in 2009. Most of those years were spent in the petroleum and banking industries. Some would likely call me a late bloomer because both of my degrees didn't come along until I was well into my forties and fifties. I have been interested in photography all my life, but I didn't really discover the art world and become an avid participant until about ten or twelve years ago. That said, my interests are rather wide-ranging. I write and have published poetry, articles, essays and novels. I am an amateur radio operator, I play several musical instruments, my favorite being the piano, and finally, my wife and I own two gorgeous convertibles that are more than ready for participation in all the local car shows. My artwork and my photography is held in a number of private collections throughout the world. I have experimented with abstract sculpture and painting and multi-media work, but find that I generally prefer drawing. My favorite subject is studies of the human face; with an appreciative focus on all things feminine. I'm quite content to share my art with those who appreciate my work for whatever it might mean to them. I can't think of any awards or prizes I've won for my artwork, but I have to say I'm not all that interested in competition, but I am more interested in producing art that means something to me and suits my tastes and goals. In short, I feel I am a man who has lived long enough and has experienced enough of the world to truly appreciate the incredible beauty of our world and what it offers us. In particular, I also appreciate being given the opportunity to record the human spirit as I personally see it and to thereby create my own personal impressions of some of the interesting people who inhabit it.
