This piece is constructed with reclaimed wood ( birch, oak, teak and pine) and found objects. The main forms echo the shape of the number seven ,for some a lucky or magical number. It is informed by the 20th century works of the cubists, constructivists, dada and surrealists. Ordinary objects and every day materials are transformed into a mysterious structure.
Signed, dated and titled on the underside of the base.

Drawing, making, manipulating and constructing with materials and media are my starting points for making works. I am interested in and inspired by my environment, especially the coast and nature. In particular the way that man made structures and objects interact with the natural world , weather ,decay and slowly return to nature. My work is also influenced by 20th century modernist, cubist and constructivist art. I have made work in several mediums currently preferring to work with clay , metal , reclaimed and recycled materials. Works often start with drawn ideas but usually go there own way in the process of making. I find Picasso's quote ' Inspiration exists but it has to find you working' to be true. Experimenting with materials , forms , techniques ,building and making often produces an interesting piece which only when complete can be named , labelled or rationalised. Works are in private collections in UK , Europe , USA and Australia.
