The idea for this mosaic was hidden deep in one of my sketchbooks for a couple of years, and in 2012 the time was right and I had a chance to make it. The inspiration came from the crows that line up on the telegraph wires.
I used a couple of bars from the chorus of Schubert’s score “Unfinished Symphony” and transferred the notes into birds. It is my favourite part of the symphony, it is so exciting and uplifting, as if something quite spectacular is going to happen. So I wanted to get this feeling into the piece as well as a slightly sinister feeling of a storm approaching. As the apocalyptic storm approaches our songs will always be unfinished...

Please note: This mosaic is made using finest quality Venetian glass "smalti" and ceramic tile onto cement board. It is suitable for an indoor space only.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a UK mosaic artist inspired by the strength, structure and colours of nature, especially skies, weather, trees and birds. Many of my mosaics are stories that are similar to ancient myths; looking at the world as a primitive and magical place. Often I plan my work as a sequence, to allow the flow of time and movement and this may lead to a stop-motion mosaic animation, allowing me to experiment and make the story come to life.
