About The Artwork
Kauai's original name was "ATOOI" which means "In The Light Of God" and "TE MOANA NUI A KIVA" translates into "The Great Ocean of Kiva." It's recorded that the four great Gods of Hawaii; Ku Kane Lono and Kanaloa all came from the Great Southland known as "Nu Holani." (aka) Australia. In this painting l'm re-telling the story of their first migration navigating through the Pacific finally arriving at Atooi.
