This series reflects a financial reality of many women in marriages, often left with nothing more than their personal property after death or divorce. Through collage of both images and abstractions, I hope to expose the complex layers that often define the concepts of power when it comes to marriage. I am influenced by the connections of relationships in families.

I have been a working artist for over 20 years. After growing up outside of Chicago, I moved to New York, where I received my master's of art from the prestigious program through NYU and the International Center of Photography. When I returned to Chicago, I continued to work on my art, writing and curating all while raising 4 kids. My work focuses on the effects of genetics, the mother/daughter relationships, and the body. I explore themes of cancer as a metaphor in my own work as well as the biennial exhibit I curate, Voices & Visions, Standing on the Bridge Between Health and Disease. The mind, body and spirit connections and separations echo the theme in art that out of darkness comes light.
