About The Artwork
This is the first in the series of Ancient Faces ink drawings. This piece is based on the culture and art of the ancient civilization of the Mayan people and aspects of this culture have been incorporated into the artwork. The work has been executed using different size technical pens on hotpressed watercolour paper as these materials provide a great opportunity for highly detailed work. The artwork has been framed in a contemporary black frame with a white mount.

Terri Smith (formerly Kelleher) was born in the USA, but moved to Ireland in 1994 where she currently works as a freelance illustrator/artist. She has been illustrating children's books since 2012 and has illustrated +/- 50 books. In 2014, she received the Kuykendall Image Award for Excellence in Illustration for her work in Nancy Scalabroni's book, "Couga Monga Minga Man." Terri also creates work for exhibition and privately commissioned pieces.
