About The Artwork
A 2015 National Art Award winning portrait of NZ music icon Brian Wafer. Known mainly for his contributions towards promoting punk rock bands and getting them on vinyl in the 80's, he is also a large record collector, travelling the country still promoting music and searching out those gem records. This piece take a 'perfect moment' within his life rituals, where the act of choosing a record, sliding it out of it's cover onto the player, then carefully with skilled control dropping the needle to it's intended message, is almost euphoric in it's delivery. Just him and his music.
