About The Artwork

I have become enthralled and challenged by the representation of the tiny translucent creatures, the plankton of the deep. I sought to combine a composition with the transparency of water. Yupo comes in translucent sheets. An illustrated single sheet of translucent Yupo was made to fold out like a map. Washes and images were created on both side of Yupo and come together into a single composition when viewed in front of a light source. This book was in the Permanent collection of Brooklyn Art Library. Unfortunately, the book was destroyed by fire in 2022 while included in a tour of the collection. Prints available. Once part of Brooklyn Art Library permanent collection. Destroyed by fire, 2022.

I grew up in rural Ohio, where in the 5th grade my art teacher began encouraging me to draw. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting at The Ohio State University, I was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. I then moved to NYC to attend New York University, spent a semester abroad, painting, drawing, and sculpting in Venice, Italy, and earned a Master's degree in studio art. The New York metropolitan area has been my home ever since. I now live and work in Yonkers with my husband, John, who provides invaluable support, advice, and carpentry skills.
