Peter Hardy is a Sydney based artist with a Master of Fine Arts, UNSW. In recent years his artworks have been exhibited in the Wynne Prize, Art Gallery of NSW, Sculpture by the Sea, the Blake Prize, and other regional and commercial gallery exhibitions. Hardy's art practice spans both painting and sculpture/assemblage; his painting exploring a calligraphic approach to mark making, often referencing meditation and reflection. His sculptures/assemblages reveal our connections to history and archetypal imagery. "Long before I started assembling artworks into collages and sculptures, I had a love of history and was studying archaeology at Sydney University. This early passion for discovery, the construction of histories and revealing of what has been concealed, is all part of my artmaking. I want to share that sense of discovery I experience when exploring a second hand store, an abandoned factory, or a disused industrial site. When seeing my work, I want the viewer to feel like they have unearthed a lost treasure or a long-forgotten artifact!"
