At first it was from the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The negative aspects of humanity, such as greed, ego, deception overwhelmed me a lot. Honestly I could understand not only the emotions of the Ukrainian side, but also the intentions of the Russian army. We draw lines between good and evil, good deeds and bad deeds, morality and immorality, beauty and ugliness. These lines cause us suffering. I don't deny the distinction between good and evil. What we need is to not blindly obey the rules and have our own judgment. We need to speculate and understand other people's emotions and to understand the existence of compassion. We are not perfect. Everyone is hated and loved, supported and opposed by someone. We have to know every single person does not have perfect personality. I gathered the components from different fields. England Rock band The Clash who were active in the 70s and 80s, their famous third album, "London Calling" gave me the image of bassist Paul Simonon smashing his bass guitar on the floor. Also I citeted "A guaranteed personality" from the song, "Lost in the Supermarket" in the album to be arranged in a way that reflects oneself.

Perhaps I am painting the cruelty of contemporary life because it is in opposition to my naïve outlook. In contrast with the physical features of my paintings, I think I am visualizing my feeling of anxiety in contemporary life. Though I do not think I am fully aware of the relationship between this cruelty and my anxiety, I represent this unsure feeling as figuratively as possible, and I am trying to figure it out in my painting. Although there are some prominent aspects of our contemporary world, such as commercialism and materialism, I cannot say who my enemy is. Some of the threats might involve the art world, however to protest such issues overtly does not suit my personal outlook.
