About The Artwork
Brighton painter Phil Tyler mentored me as I sought to develop a painterly style in 2013. Phil made a series of tonal paintings inspired by Muybridge's classic photos of the naked male form in motion. I did a similar exercise, trying to paint "colour notes" rather than precise representation of the human form. These little paint-sketches turned out well, even evoking a sense of Bacon in their blurred motion. This series of small oil paintings was done on heavy cartridge paper, and is sold as is, ready for framing, and shipped in heavy cardboard wrapping.
